Perseverance

Perseverance: that is the word for the weekend. Roger and I are in Destin, Fl at the Alpha Conference Minister's Rejuvenate Conference. The keynote speaker is a minister journeying through a diagnosis of lymphoma. Listening to him put such a longing in me for my cancer patients. I truly miss them, but that is a topic for another day. The word is perseverance. The scripture used was Psalm 23.

Roger and I are in a very difficult season at the moment. Traveling to build partnerships for ministry in Haiti, we are at the same time in a legal situation where Roger's character has been attacked. While there is proof he has done nothing wrong, just having to walk through this valley is emotionally draining. We are looking for conclusion. But that involves perseverance.

In our devotion time just this week (we are reading My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers) the word perseverance came up. Chambers describes perseverance as "endurance combined with absolute assurance and certainty that what we are looking for is going to happen." Bro. Terry's definition last night was "stedfast continuance in the will of God regardless of circumstances or opposition." I reallly like both definitions.

I am going to delve into this in more depth at a later time. Right now we have another conference meeting. Anxiously awaiting for God to reveal more.
