Reflections

Here we are home for just a week now. It is more difficult to be here than I thought it would be. I miss Madame Mono and her children, Juliet, Stephanie, Ezekiel and her grandson little Lili. I miss the sound of the school children at the swings next to the apartment. They have a new playground now. And I haven't seen it yet. It will be different when we go back.

I miss Blanc. I need to tell about Blanc. He is a 10 year old boy with CP. He is the most loving child! He would try to wrestle with Roger and they  would wind up in a big hug. He didn't speak English except for the words"I love you" and he showed it  with his eyes. Children with handicaps are not treated well by most Haitians. But I never saw the people of our church there mistreat him. Bonnie Clowers and her husband Darrel are our Regional Directors of the Caribbean. She found funds for a special needs teacher at College Jehovah Shalom (our compound school). So Blanc gets to attend school now.

One of the ladies that cooks for the teams that come to Bon Repo lost her 16 year daughter right after we left. My heart breaks for her. I still don't know what happened except that she became ill and they took her to the hospital and she died shortly after arriving there. So many were ill right before we left with Malaria. Cholera was becoming more widespread too with all the rain we had there during the last of May and first of June.
There is also the little boy who was burned as an infant. (still don't know the story behind what happened.) His grandfather takes care of him and they attend our church at Bon Repo. The child also has a deformed finger. Doctors who have worked on our medical teams that have come in say it can be surgically fixed. We are praying that the Lord provided the resource needed for this child to have the needed surgery.

I have so much too think about and pray about while we are here in the States. I am still processing the last three months. Bondye Bini ou.(God Bless You)
