Home For a Season

I am a little late posting this note. Roger and I have been home for about a month now. After the last six months it is difficult to realize we are not going anywhere for a while except to travel around Alabama and surrounding states to gather partners for our ministry. It is a constantly changing life and change is not always as easy as you think it will be.

For the first week or so we set up the camper in my mother’s back yard. We spent that time readjusting to life in the U.S. It didn’t really take very long. We then moved the camper to River Country Campground in Gadsden, Alabama. We stayed there about a month. During this time we revisited some of our partners in the area to say THANK YOU. Their support has meant so much to us.
Right now we are at a campground/trailer park outside of Prattville. Not my choice but it is quiet and close to what we need. Just no internet. I am setting in McDonald's as I write this to have internet access. We used to go to Mickey D's to eat,now it is to  surf the web!

July 14th was the Alpha Conferences Summer Celebration and Camp meeting. It felt so good to be home worshipping our Lord with brothers and sisters in Christ that we have know for so many years. (This is not to say that we don’t miss our Haitian brothers and sisters, we do!) And during this time Roger and I were licensed as Ministers in the IPHC! This was a very humbling experience for both of us. As we discussed it afterwards, we both agreed it was for us, a more defining moment than when we were commissioned as lay missionaries. That may be hard for some to believe and I do not know if I can explain why it was so, but it was.

I guess it was because we were not really pursuing a ministerial license. We were content with being lay missionaries. I do know that the Lord has a reason which we may not understand at the present time but I have always believed promotion of any kind comes from our Lord and it always comes with greater responsibility.

Responsibility: that is a mouth full. We have a responsibility to itinerate and share what our Lord is doing in Haiti. I pray we can adequately relate how awesome God is and make everyone understand that it is not our abilities that are going to make the difference but our willingness to be obedient to what the Lord has put in our hearts. And their willingness to be a part of it.
