I was looking over my post from last year and reread "Art comes in many forms part 1". Never did get to the other forms. Business got in the way I guess. I was discussing the art of literature. I do so enjoy reading. And at that time I shared that I knew a couple of authors I am happy to say that I have read a few of Cindy Woodsmall's books. I really enjoyed her writing! I cried through all 3 of the Sisters of the Quilt series. Which is why I don't read a lot of fiction, I get too emotionally envolved in the story. But I do love to read. I met another writer in 2011, Lee Grady. His wife was with him and I developed a deep appreciation for the way my Lord Jesus is using them. I have two of his books, both excellent. 10 Lies the Church Tells Women and The Holy Spirit Is Not For Sale are books I highly recommend.
But I also love music, which is another form of art called performance arts. I grew up with music. My mother is a very talented musician. She plays the piano and at the age of 70 still plays the organ at church. She basically taught herself to play the organ after playing the piano since she was a child. And she sings so beautifully. I did not inherit her musical ability. I love to sing (am not good enough to sing solo, must blend in with a choir), but I can not play an instrument, though I would really love to know how to play the saxaphone. While my sister can play the piano and my brother played the trumpet in highschool, I am lacking. I took piano lessons but had a teacher tell me that I read the music faster than my hands would keep up. So I gave it up. Matthew and my niece Hannah both inherited the musical abilities I long for. Matt plays the guitar and Hannah plays the piano. But I do love music! I can get lost in the music. It carries me places I cannot physically go just like a good story does.
Now about my art. Painting expresses feelings I cannot put into words. No one else may see what I do in a completed painting but that's ok. I know the feelings that were poured into it. Seeing the shapes, shadows, tones of color unfold on the canvas brings a deep satisfaction.
I only started back painting this past summer. Though I took art lessons in highschool, as an adult I never seemed to have the time to give to it. Acrylic is a new medium for me. It has been difficult to adjust to due to the fast drying time. But that is precislyl why I enjoy it. Oil always took to long to dry for my taste.
Being mobile, I am not able to take classes to help develop my art. The internet has proven to be very useful with free instructions on how to accomplish different techniques. I will keep searching for new lessons.
Most of my paintings I have posted on FaceBook for anyone that wants to see them. Here are a few of my latest. There is much more about art I could discuss but I need to focus my discussions on other things. But discussions are one thing, painting is another. I will continue to paint.
